Microsoft signed an agreement with Dolby Labs Inc to use Dolby sound systems with Windows 8. Microsoft will include Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 channel decoding and two channels in Windows 8 OEM. Dolby Labs Inc hope to see the result in next financial year.  This will be another clue that Windows 8 and its devices will be released after June, most probably it will be in October.

“With the incredible growth of online download and streaming media, particularly for video content, this agreement ensures a great audio experience for those consumers who wish to download or stream TV and movies containing Dolby Digital Plus,”  Tami Reller (Microsoft Windows unit CFO)said in a statement.

As consumers this will be a plus and if you are waiting to buy Windows 8 devices then you know it will have rich sound quality with Dolby.
