Brandon LeBlanc officially announced through a blog post in windowsteamblog, that Windows 8 can be upgraded for just $39.99 from Windows XP, Vista or 7. It seems like a reasonable price for an upgrade for end users. On the other hand Microsoft has understand the importance of majority of the users upgrade to the latest version of Windows.

Directly from the blog post, “We set out to make it as easy as possible for everyone to upgrade to Windows 8. Starting at general availability,Windows 8 Upgrade if your PC is running Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 you will qualify to download an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for just $39.99 in 131 markets. And if you want, you can add Windows Media Center for free through the “add features” option within Windows 8 Pro after your upgrade.”

You have option to download the ISO file or the USB flash drive version. You can get the DVD for extra $15.00 plus shipping. Great deals are only available at online stores.  If you purchase it from local store it will cost you $69.99 untill January 31st 2013.

Further they add Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro System builder version if you build your own version or installing it on a Virtual Machine.
