Peek at Desktop option will help you to view the desktop temporarily in Windows 8. You can check the folders or gadgets on the desktop without minimizing the open windows and bring them back to the same position.

How to use Peek at Desktop

  • Press Windows key   + ,
  • Move cursor to the show desktop button at the end of the task bar.

Method 1

Step 1: Go to desktop

Step 2: Right click on the bottom right hand side  corner of the screen.

Step 3: Click on Peek at Desktop turn on the Peek at Desktop. To turn off  uncheck Peek at Desktop.

Now when you clicked Peek at Desktop all the open windows will go transparent and it will allow you to see the desktop wallpaper and short cuts.

 

Method 2

Step 1: Right click on the Task bar.

Step 2: Select Properties

Step 3: Check Use Peek to preview the desktop when you move your mouse to the show desktop button at the end of the task bar. 

Step 4: Click Ok

 

Method 3

Step 1: Go to Adjust visual effects under Performance Information and Tools in  Control Panel.

Step 2: Go to Visual effects tab

Step 3: Enable Aero Peek by tick the check box.

Step 4: Click Ok
